The difference between a full-blown email account and email forwarding is that the former takes up storage space while the latter does not (it only forwards emails from one address to another).
That being said, we usually recommend clients start off with 200Mb email accounts each (these can be increase to best utilize you 2Gb of storage - plans can be upgraded as well).
So, if you created the following emails accounts (all 200Mb):
john@
jane@
bob@
beth@
joe@
rob@
and the following email forwarding:
info@ –> john@ and jane@
marketing@ –> john@ , jane@ and joe@
feedback@ –> beth@ and jane@
your total storage space would be something like:
6 (Accounts) x 200 (Mb) = 1200 (Mb) = 1.2 (Gb) out of 2 (Gb)
add to that about 100 (Mb) for the actual website itself and you can see that there is still room to add or adjust (increase/decrease) email account. also, tell us if the email forwardings are ok (they can be adjusted too) or if you need us to create more of them.
Note: Gmail is ideal in these situations because you can use their excellent feature in the “settings” at the top-left of the screen to add external email accounts. (Use Gmail to send from your other email addresses). One of us can help you set this up if you’d like but it isn’t too tough to setup on your own if you follow the 3-4 steps involved.
Still, the quickest way to get up and running with emails is to use the webmail login at http://webmail.yourdomain.com/
Once there, you’ll see a page where you can either login and send/receive emails right away or click on the link just below to ” manage your mailbox settings”. From the “manage” page you’ll see a different login - use this page to view your mailbox usage (total size in Mb), change you’re displayed name (include your last name, etc), change your password, and more.
The manage page also has any info you’ll need if you plan to setup an email client on your computer (like Outlook, Outlook Express, MacMail, etc) - although we generally recommend using the webmail over one of these.
After you are setup with a hosting plan - go check it out (your webmail), test it (send emails to each other before important clients) and let us know if you run into any problems.
